Welcome to Union Island, St. Vincent and the Grenadines!
Union Island is the Southernmost inhabited Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Due to its dramatic silhouet it is also called the "Tahiti of the West Indies".
Union Island is located just a
few miles from the Tobago Cays, Mayreau, PSV and Canouan. This makes it an
ideal starting point for day charters, and a perfect ending point for
one way charters from Bequia or St. Vincent.
Union Island has a small airport, offering daily flights to and from Barbados, less publicized but very convenient, shuttles to and from St. Vincent.
Also there are various ferry services covering most of the Grenadines.
Union used to be just a
convenient port for customs clearance and a hub for the day charter boat
trips, it was not very scenic.
After a massive clean up operation years ago now there are nice bars and restaurants, and very friendly people who realize tourism means business!. Nightlife is limited.
There are a lot of Fench businesses on the island, yes, this is the place to get fresh baquettes, quiche, carpaccio, french coffee! The vegetable market is excellent. Every building in the "town" Clifton is either a bar, restaurant, supermarket or boutique, this is THE place to do your last minute souvenir shopping.
If you want to combine a land and sail vacation, this is the perfect location to end a short (could be less than a week) sailing trip South from Bequia, visiting most of the Grenadines, without having to cover the longish and possibly tedious sail back up North.
Travel tip: Combine your stay in Union with a cruise through the Grenadines on one of our crewed charter yachts
