The hurricane season 2018
Update 5 September 2018: Up till now all has been extremely quiet for the Grenadines weather wise. But as usual this time of year it is time to look East. At the moment 2 potential storms are coming off the coast of Africa, most probably soon to be named Helene and Isaac.
Klotzbach and team of Colorado State University have issued their annual April forecast for the hurricane season:
For 2018 they predict a slightly above average season due to a weakening to neutral La Nina/el Nino state.
They estimate 14 named tropical storms, (12 is normal), 7 of which will become hurricanes (6.5 is normal) and they predict 3 of these will become major hurricanes (of category 3 to 5 severity). (2 is normal).
